Russia's palm oil imports show a growth trend in 2018

Analysis agency UkrAgroConsult stated that from September 2017 to March 2018, Russian palm oil imports amounted to 631,800 tons, an increase of 8.7% from 581,400 tons in the same period of last year.

After the decline of the previous year, Russia’s palm oil imports this year showed a growth trend, close to the record high of 654,000 tons in the same period of 2015/16.

In March 2018 Russia imported 96,800 tons of palm oil. In the past two months, Russia’s palm oil imports have been high. Therefore, imports in March increased 34.6% year-on-year.

This year is characterized by Indonesia's increased share in the Russian palm oil market. Indonesia’s share of the Russian market this year has reached 86%, compared to 77% in the same period of last year. Malaysia and the Netherlands accounted for 7% and 4.4% respectively.
